Cajun Fest to turn downtown Kent into a ‘Little Louisiana' Aug. 19

Spice up your taste buds and experience the soul of Louisiana, says Kent Downtown Partnership

Get ready to spice up your taste buds and experience the soul of Louisiana.

Dance, dine and have a ragin’ Cajun good time where Southern culture and hospitality turn historic downtown Kent into a “Little Louisiana!”

That’s how Kent Downtown Partnership is promoting its Cajun Fest, which will run from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19 in downtown Kent at Burlington Green Park, 201 E. Meeker St.

Live music and dancing will keep festival-goers entertained throughout the day, with performances by local and regional Cajun and Zydeco bands.

Visitors can expect an authentic experience of the vibrant and lively culture of Louisiana, Cajun-themed food trucks, beer/wine garden, vendors/artists, and activities for the kids, according to Kent Downtown Partnership.

Music will be provided by Bayou Envie, Zydeco Locals, Portland-based band Too Loose Cajun/Zydeco and Eric “Two Scoop” Moore, and 2nd line parade led by the JBLM Bigfoot Brass Band

Food vendors include Dat Creole Soul, Po’ boy n’ Tings, The BBQ Man, Where Ya at Matt, Al’s Sausage, The Village Perk, South 2 West Boiled Peanuts, Cheddar Boy Popcorn and more to come.

Mardi Gras-style costumes are encouraged.

It is a free family friendly event, but those planning to go are asked to please RSVP for free tickets to help track interest and expected attendance. Go to downtownkentwa.com to register.
