Residents can learn about the Pasado's Spay Station during an Open House at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Regional Animal Services of King County Pet Adoption Center, 21615 64th Ave S., in Kent.

Pasado’s Safe Haven’s state-of-the-art mobile spay/neuter clinic is traveling in South King County. Thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities targeting the 98030 zip code, Pasado’s can continue the fight against pet overpopulation by decreasing the amount of unwanted litters and associated shelter euthanasia and by supporting low-income pet guardians, according to a county media release.

In addition, Pasado’s has joined forces with South County Cats, a local non-profit spay/neuter assistance organization, to make all cat surgeries “free” to income qualified residents in south King County while funding lasts. In addition, Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC)  has partnered with these two organizations to promote the program with the goal of reducing animal in-take at the Pet Adoption Center.

Aggressive spay/neuter is so important to save lives. Did you know that:

Kittens as young as four months old can become pregnant?

• Spay/neuter can prevent health issues, helping your pet live a happier, healthier life.

• Spay/neuter programs can help with behavioral issues, including territorial marking and dominance issues.

• Spaying or neutering your pet reduces the euthanasia rates in area shelters, saving countless lives through prevention.

At the open house, people can learn how this program will benefit the community and its residents. A tour of the mobile clinic will be provided and refreshments served.

This program operates on donations and grant money.  If you are interested in donating toward this life-saving work, go to https://www.pasadosafehaven.org/donate/ or www.southcountycats.petfinder.org.
