17-year-old airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after incident in 23400 block of 116th Ave. SE

A 17-year-old female pedestrian was hit and injured by a vehicle at about 7:21 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1 on the East Hill in Kent in the 23400 block of 116th Avenue SE.

King County Medic One and Puget Sound Fire firefighters treated the girl for injuries before she was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Puget Sound Fire spokesperson Pat Pawlak.

The girl is in critical condition, according to an early afternoon Feb. 1 email from Harborview spokesperson Susan Gregg.

Airlift Northwest used Puget Sound Fire Station 74, 24611 116th Ave. SE., as its landing zone, Pawlak said.

According to a Feb. 1 Kent Police news release, 911 callers were reporting that the child had been hit by a vehicle and she was on the ground and injured. Officers and medics found the 17-year-old girl with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old Kent woman, has been cooperative and early indications are that intoxicants were not a factor, according to police.

Officers are trying to determine what led up to the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Kent Police tipline at 253-856-5808 or email KPDTipLine@kentwa.gov.
